MP for Kendhoo constituency Ali Hussein have stated that the president announced the state of emergency in Maldives unlawfully and no one should obey it.

Suood said that the state of emergency was announced with an invalid statement and hence those who gave legal advice to do that will be responsible.

Suood said that the state of emergency was announced to make the Supreme Court powerless and that this is unconstitutional.

This is the second time Maldives has announced state of emergency and the first time was after the assassination attempt on the president.
