Opposition parties have stated that there is no reason to accept the state of emergency. Speaking at a press conference held by the opposition, MP Ameeth said that it is evident from the way the government is acting after announcing the state of emergency.

Ameeth said that while the police is dispersing opposition gatherings, they are assisting gatherings held by the government.

Ameeth said that when they treat the government and the opposition differently it shows that there is no danger to Maldives.

He said that the police and MNDF who are executing these orders should be held responsible.
