China has urged the international community not to interfere in the domestic affairs of Maldives and asked to let Maldives find homegrown solutions.
A spokesperson at Chinese foreign ministry said that instead of taking action that can escalate the situation the international community should try to find solutions. The spokesperson said that the China-Maldives Free Trade agreement benefits both the countries and that China will not interfere in the domestic affairs of Maldives.
Since China has the most number of FDIs in Maldives, any unrest in Maldives will affect Chinese interests. China-Maldives relations strengthened during the current administration and China plays a huge role in assisting Maldives to attain economic development.
