Former President Nasheed has stated that India never tried to take over Maldives. He made this statement while speaking to the reporters at Velana International Airport before departing to India.
He said that it is not in India’s interest to take control of Maldives and democratic countries do not fight each other. In addition he said that the relation between India and Maldives will not undermine the sovereignty of Maldives.
Meanwhile, the opposition suspects that India has a great influence over the current administration.
