Parliament has repealed the constitutional amendment which allowed the sale of land to foreigners.
The amendment was brought to the constitution during the previous administration. The motion to repeal the amendment was submitted by MP Abdullah Rifaau of Maafannu South constituency.
All the 64 members present in the parliament chamber voted to repeal it. It takes 1 by third of the total number of parliament members to amend the condition. Hence that is 64 votes out of the 85 parliament members.
