Maldives Expo 2026 to Welcome Businesses from China, India and UAE

Companies from China, India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expected to take part in the Maldives Expo 2026, bringing international products, technologies and business opportunities to the local market, Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed has announced.

The exhibition, jointly organised by the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) and the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, will be held from 25 October to 2 November. This year’s event will feature seven districts, expanding the exhibition by two districts compared with last year. The newly introduced sections are the Visitor Economy District and the International District.

Speaking at a press briefing at the President’s Office, Minister Saeed said 15 Chinese companies would participate in the International District, presenting modern products, equipment and technologies with the potential to strengthen and add value to Maldivian small businesses.

He said the participating Chinese companies would also share information and facilitate connections between international businesses and local entrepreneurs, helping create opportunities for cooperation and commercial partnerships.

“Chinese businesses will introduce tools and technologies that can add value to small businesses in the Maldivian economy, alongside displays of the latest products. Fifteen Indian entities will also participate, while efforts are under way to secure the participation of businesses from the UAE,” Minister Saeed said.

The minister highlighted a significant increase in participation compared with the previous edition. While 280 participants attended last year’s Maldives Expo, the number has risen to 780 for this year’s event. The range of items represented at the exhibition has also doubled, reflecting the fair’s expanding scale and reach.

Minister Saeed said the 2026 edition would offer a range of new and distinctive attractions, with particular emphasis on the creative economy.

The expanded exhibition is expected to provide a broader platform for local businesses to showcase their products, explore innovative technologies and establish connections with international companies, while opening new avenues for commercial growth and collaboration.
