Expenses on the health sector increases by 55 percent
Records show that the government’s expenditure on the health sector has increased by 55 percent compared to 2011 and 2014.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Hotel Jen last night to release the National Health Accounts of Maldives for the year 2014, health Minister Nazim said that in 2014 alone the state spent 44287 million Rufiyaa. These include acquiring new equipment and expenses related to unlimited Aasandha. Minister Nazim said that since these accounts an increment compared to 2011 it shows that upon assuming office President Yameen focused on the health sector a lot. In addition, he said that out of these expenses 70 percent was directly from the state budget.

Nazim said that the 25-story IGMH building is not the only building that is being developed by the government. “Other services include 25 sea ambulance, an Aasandha applicable pharmacy in each island and a doctor in every island” said Naazim.

Maldives National Health Accounts report is a report which shows health related expenses and shows how much the government is able to achieve health related goals. In addition it shows the unfinished tasks. In short it is a comprehensive audit of the health sector. The auditing is done with the assistance of WHO.
