Sheet Piling Starts at Velana International Airport
After the completion of all reclamation works today starts the official sheet piling works at Velana International Airport. Approximately 3,300 meters of sheet piling
works at the north east lagoon area will be laid to protect the 650,000 square meters of land for the development of the new runway.

In addition to above, approximately 350 meters of sheet piling works will be done to protect the 18,290 square meters of land reclaimed to develop the new sea plane terminal with approximately 140 meters to protect the 13,460 square meters reclaimed for the Maintenance and Repair facility of the sea planes.

Simultaneously 580 meters of sheet piling works is already underway to protect the 11,350 square meters of land for the future jetty area on south west of Velana International Airport.

Altogether approximately 4,370 meters of sheet piling works with concrete capping beam will be done at Velana International Airport. The contractor for this project is Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) and Gulf Cobla Tennssor Maldives. The works are to be completed within the next 5 months.
