Planning minister Mohammed Aslam have said that bribes should not be offered to win any projects conducted by the government. Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate the water and sewerage system of K.Dhiffushi, the minister said that there are capable Maldivian companies in the Maldives and that projects will be awarded to them.
He said that however, he will always follow the procedure. “Someone texted me saying that there will be a project at the ministry and asked to speed up the process and offered me 100,000 dollars. I was really angry” said Aslam.
“That is because I do not accept such kind of things.” said Aslam. He said that there are problems in planning developmental projects. He said for instance once a harbor is completed, then it is realized that it is too small. He said that this happens because it is not planned properly. He assured that the government will conduct projects after planning it carefully.
