Former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has been summoned to the HQ of Maldives Police Service today.
He was summoned to the police station at 1430 hours. Maldives Police Service is investigating a money laundering case related to President Yameen and the authorities have frozen all his bank accounts.
President Yameen has allegedly given false information to the ACC and Police regarding the 1 million dollars deposited to his account by SOF.
This is the third time he was summoned to the police station after he left office. He was first summoned for depositing money to the account he used in the presidential elections. On last Sunday he was summoned to question regarding the money deposited to his account by SOF.
