Maldives Correctional Service has taken former President Yameen back to jail from hospital.
He was taken to Indhira Ghandhi Memorial Hospital yesterday and underwent tests at the Cardiac Center of the hospital. After that he was admitted at the hospital for 24 hours for further tests.
It is not clear why he was taken to the hospital. According to his family, the former president did not request to be taken to the hospital.
President Yameen is being detained at Maafushi Detention Center. In the money laundering case against him the prosecutor general requested to detain him until the end of his trial stating that he might tamper with evidence.
The Criminal Court granted the PG’s request and ordered to detain the former president. President Yameen’s lawyers have appealed the detention order at the High Court of Maldives and the court accepted the case today.
