Former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayyoom did not vote in today’s parliamentary elections.
He is the only ex-president of Maldives who did not vote today. According to some sources, he informed to the leadership of the party that he will not vote in the elections.
He is a constituent of Mahchan Goalhi north constituency. A ppm candidate is contested for the seat and also President Yameen’s nephew Faaris Maumoon also contested for the same seat.
Former President Maumoon and Nasheed voted today.
President Yameen was in house arrest during most of the elections and he was released a week before the elections. He did not even take part in the campaign of any candidate.
