Story of an ordinary staff who got promoted to senior management after spending the last 10 days of Ramadan praying

I used to have a very ordinary job in a state-owned company. I had to depend on my salary and over time bonuses. That is because I cannot make ends meet from my salary alone. I have a wife and three children. Also I take care of my father and mother. As I cannot make ends meet from my job alone, I also work at a shop as a part time cashier.

While I was living my life like this, once I heard a religious lecture on the importance of the last 10 days of Ramadan. After that, I was determined to increase the time I spend praying in the last 10 days of Ramadan. I decided to take a leave from both my workplaces for 10 days, without any consideration for my financial needs.

I continued to do this for three years. In the fourth year, my boss asked to see me and asked about my living conditions. I explained my situation to him very clearly.  After 2-3 days he asked me to come again. He requested me to work fulltime for him and to leave the government job. He told me that he will give a salary more than what I make from both my jobs combined. I asked him to give me some time to think.

He called me to his office after 2-3 days again. “You are taking time to answer because you are worried about what might happen if I lay you off after sometime right ? “ he said this and handed me a receipt.

The receipt shows that he bought a flat from Hulhumale’ under my name. “When you start living there, you will no longer have to spend MVR 18,000 on rent. I spent this much because I would like to handover a new business, I intend to start to you. I will give you 15% share of the business. That is because I need someone trustworthy like you” said my boss.

I immediately agreed and started working for him. This is my 4th year since then. I don’t have to worry about making ends meet anymore, as I make a 6-figure salary. My company is one of the most prominent companies in the Maldives.

I thank Allah for this progress in life and I believe that the Duas I made to Allah during the last 10 days of Ramadan were accepted. That is the only thing I did different, and hence I know that it is the reason of my success. Now I spend the last 10 days of Ramadan in Makkah with my family, performing Umra.
