The parliament has today passed to remove the magistrate of Thinadhoo magistrate court.
Magistrate Ibrahim Rasheed is the first judge to be removed by the parliament of the Maldives. A total of 70 MPs took part in the vote today and all of them voted in favor of removing the judge.
Speaking at the parliament today some members said that even though the judge’s case has been in JSC for 6 years, from now on no case will take that long and that they will take immediate action against the judges when required.
The Judicial Service Commission of the parliament decided to remove the judge and then sent the case to the Judicial Committee of the parliament which then decided that the JSC followed the procedure in removing the judge.
