Sea Life Maldives has stated that the company deposited USD 15,000 to former President Yameen’s bank account but it was not related to any project.
Speaking to online news Sun, an official of Sea Life stated that the company deposited the money to the president’s account because the company’s MD Mohamed Ahmed Moosa repaired his car with money borrowed from the president and he sent the money to the president through Sea Life after the president requested to return the money. The official said that the president lent that money to Ahmed Mohamed Moosa before he assumed office.
Anti-Corruption Commission is now investigating the matter. ACC stated that they are investigating a matter related to Sea Life but did not reveal any other details. Previously the commission stated that money from three projects were deposited to the president’s account.
According to some sources, Sea Life deposited the money to the president’s account in 2014. It was the same period where Sea Life was awarded a project to develop 3000 housing units in Hulhumale.
