AA. Mathiveri Council has issued a statement calling to take action against Tourism Minister Ali Waheed for acting impulsively without considering the needs and wants of the people of the island. The statement calls the President and Speaker of the parliament to take action against Ali Waheed.
The council issued this statement because the Tourism Ministry leased two land plots in the island to Rich Club Maldives.
A resident of the island who spoke to Miadhu News stated that the company did not pay a large sum of the rent for the land and giving away land to a company like that from an island faced with land scarcity is unacceptable. “The council even renewed the agreement in order to get the money they owe, but it doesn’t seem that they will get it” said the person.
