Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has rolled out a renewed penalty relief programme targeting long-overdue water bills for both households and businesses, offering customers another opportunity to clear outstanding dues under flexible conditions.
In a statement, MWSC said the initiative is part of its continued efforts to ease the financial burden on customers and encourage the settlement of unpaid bills. As part of the scheme, all penalties accrued on water bills issued up to 31 December 2025 will be waived.
To qualify, customers must settle their full outstanding balance—including overdue amounts—within the period from 1 April 2026 to 31 December 2026.
The company also noted that customers who are unable to make a lump-sum payment can opt for a monthly instalment plan. In such cases, the penalty waiver will be granted upon successful completion of the agreed payment schedule.
MWSC advised customers seeking further details or assistance to contact its Customer Care Centre via hotline 105, send an SMS to 1050, or email [email protected]
.
This is not the first time MWSC has introduced such relief. A similar initiative was implemented last year, under which penalties accrued up to 1 December 2024 were waived as part of a targeted support policy.
