Maldives, Indonesia explore Islamic cooperation and imam training initiatives

Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, held talks with Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Anis Matta, to enhance bilateral cooperation in Islamic affairs.

The discussions took place during a courtesy call by the Indonesian Vice Minister on the Maldivian Islamic Minister.

Both sides exchanged views on strengthening the Islamic Endowment Fund and identified opportunities to collaborate on training programmes for imams and khatibs.

Dr Shaheem expressed appreciation for the visit, highlighting the value of closer cooperation between the Maldives and Indonesia in advancing religious affairs and community development.

During his visit, the Vice Minister also met with senior officials of the Ministry, where he was briefed on major initiatives and the work of its affiliated agencies.

He further visited key religious sites in Malé, including the Islamic Centre and the Malé Friday Mosque.
