Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has entered into a partnership with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), with MACL taking on the role of Aviation Partner for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026.
The agreement was formally signed by VMC Manager of Business Development Aishath Shirany Nasir and MACL General Manager of Air Service Development Nashaya Abdul Wahid.
As part of the partnership, MACL will provide branding and promotional exposure at Velana International Airport, supporting the international visibility of the World Travel Awards event.
Nashaya Abdul Wahid said MACL was pleased to formalise the partnership and play a role in promoting the Maldives to an international audience.
She said MACL was proud to serve as the Official Aviation Partner and help create a welcoming and memorable experience for visitors arriving in the Maldives through Velana International Airport.
According to Nashaya, the partnership also demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing the Maldives’ global profile and contributing to the continued expansion of the country’s tourism sector.
The World Travel Awards is an internationally recognised platform that honours excellence across the travel and tourism industry, bringing together prominent destinations, tourism bodies and hospitality brands from around the world.
The decision to host the 2026 Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean ceremony in the Maldives is expected to give the country greater international exposure, while creating opportunities to connect with tourism stakeholders, expand industry networks and further strengthen its standing as a leading tourism destination.
VMC said the collaboration is part of its broader efforts to bring major international tourism events to the Maldives, build stronger links within the global tourism industry and promote the destination to audiences worldwide.
