Eighteen members have been elected today to the Members’ Council of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), representing the general membership of the party.
The 18 members were elected during the party’s Congress, the highest decision-making body of the PNC, held today.
The voting process was conducted to elect individuals to several key positions within the party. In addition to the six Deputy President positions and seats specifically designated for women and youth, members also voted to elect 18 general members to the Members’ Council, with these positions open to all party members.
More than 70 candidates contested the 18 general positions on the Members’ Council, while more than 1,200 delegates cast their votes in the election.

The successful candidates elected at the PNC Congress will formally assume responsibility for their respective positions after signing their declarations of office at a special ceremony scheduled to be held tonight.
