President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has held discussions with a delegation from the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by Director-General Peng Xiubin, on further strengthening economic cooperation between the Maldives and China.
The delegation paid a courtesy visit to President Muizzu this morning at the President’s Official Residence, Muliaage.
During the meeting, Peng Xiubin highlighted that the shared principles upheld by the two countries, together with the close ties between their peoples, form a strong foundation for Maldives-China relations.
He also praised the importance President Muizzu attaches to national reforms and commended the achievements made under his leadership, describing these efforts as a strong foundation for the Maldives’ sustainable development.
Peng Xiubin expressed hope that the two countries would further expand economic cooperation and work together in ways that generate greater benefits and mutual prosperity. He also noted that the increasing number of high-level visits between the Maldives and China demonstrates the strength and growing importance of bilateral relations.
During the meeting, President Muizzu expressed sincere gratitude to China for its longstanding friendship with the Maldives and for the significant assistance and support extended to the country.
The President described the relationship between the Maldives and China as a comprehensive strategic partnership and highlighted China’s continued support for the Maldives’ economic development.
He also emphasized the importance of further strengthening economic cooperation and deepening the bilateral relationship for the mutual benefit of both countries.
