The People’s National Congress (PNC) has officially awarded its presidential ticket to the party’s President and President of the Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The presidential ticket was formally handed over to President Muizzu at a special ceremony held following a decision by the party’s highest council.
The decision to nominate President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to contest the upcoming presidential election for a second term was approved at a special meeting of the PNC’s highest council held on September 17.
The resolution was passed unanimously by all 119 members who participated in the meeting.
The resolution to award the presidential ticket to President Muizzu was proposed by an ordinary member of the party. The resolution stated that the proposal was based on the services President Muizzu has provided to the country since assuming office and the recognition of those efforts by the Maldivian people.
It further noted that President Muizzu deserves a second term in recognition of his ongoing efforts to advance the country in various areas and bring further progress to the Maldives.
