Chairperson of the People’s National Congress (PNC) and President of the People’s Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdullah has said that political success is not achieved simply by belonging to a particular family, but through sincere and honest work and maintaining a close connection with the people.
He made the remarks while speaking at a special session held to conclude the PNC Congress.
Abdul Raheem said the successful conclusion of the Congress marked the beginning of preparations for the 2028 presidential election. He stressed that, following the example set by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, political leaders must engage directly with the people and work alongside them.
He said political success does not come from being associated with a particular family, but rather through sincere and dedicated work.
Speaking about the country’s financial situation, Abdul Raheem said that while opposition parties had claimed at the beginning of the administration that the country would face bankruptcy, President Muizzu’s prudent approach has enabled the government to repay debts and put the economy on a more stable path.
He further called on senior party figures across the islands to work together and begin efforts to secure a second term for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, without being distracted by criticism from political opponents.
During the session, PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah said that although employees affiliated with other political parties are working in government institutions, no one is being treated unfairly.
Falah also said President Muizzu has continued to fulfil the commitments he made, and expressed confidence that he would successfully contest and win the 2028 presidential election.
He added that President Muizzu consistently advises those around him not to take any action that could cause harm to the country.
