Preparations for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026 Gala Ceremony are gaining momentum, with Bank of Maldives (BML) and Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives joining the event as key private-sector partners.
The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Maldives on September 27, returning to the country after a decade. The event is expected to attract tourism and hospitality leaders from more than 40 countries, providing an international platform to highlight the Maldives and its tourism industry.
BML has been named the Platinum Title Sponsor of the gala.
The bank said the partnership will strengthen its engagement with major tourism stakeholders in the Maldives and overseas, while reaffirming its continued support for the country’s tourism sector and businesses operating within the industry.
The ceremony is expected to bring together senior executives from leading hotels and resorts, tourism boards, government institutions, hospitality businesses and investors, alongside international travel trade media and representatives from the airline and aviation sectors.
Meanwhile, Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has partnered with Allied Insurance Company of the Maldives Private Limited as the official insurance partner for the event.
The sponsorship agreement was signed by VMC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Abdulla Yasir and Allied Insurance Chief Commercial Officer Suran De Silva.
Under the agreement, Allied Insurance will be featured across selected marketing materials, digital platforms and promotional communications associated with the gala ceremony.
VMC said the partnership highlights the role of Maldivian businesses in supporting the successful delivery of the international event and in bringing local and global industry stakeholders together.
The World Travel Awards recognize excellence across the international travel and tourism industry, with awards presented in categories covering destinations, hotels, airlines and other tourism-related services.
VMC said hosting the 2026 Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean ceremony will help strengthen relationships within the tourism industry while enhancing the Maldives’ visibility among an international travel audience.
With major tourism stakeholders and private-sector partners coming together for the event, the September 27 ceremony is expected to place the Maldives at the centre of regional tourism industry attention.
